Description
A guidebook containing useful background information and a short synopsis of every book in the Bible.
This guidebook takes you through the Bible in a similar way to how a tourist guide book takes you through a country (including plenty of photographs and illustrations!).
The first few chapters set the scene by providing useful background information such as ‘How God gave us the Bible’ and ‘Why it takes faith to believe the Bible’. It then goes on to introduce the main characters and geographic locations of the Bible. Throughout the book there are interesting ‘fact-files’ along with plenty of background information that explains the culture and customs of Bible times.
The second part of the book includes an overview of each book of the Bible. Each overview contains the following sub-headings:-
- [a summary of the book] In a paragraph
- Key point
- Author, date
- Main characters
- Biggest Scene
- Most famous line
As the back cover says, “Easy to read, User’s Guide to the Bible is a perfect introduction to the complex library of books we call the Bible. New Christians and others curious about Christianity will find it especially helpful.” It’s also a useful reference book for youth leaders to have on their bookshelf (and of course use!).
