Description
A youth group resource that tackles some massive questions. It contains 5 sessions based on 'The Case for Christ' and a further 5 based on 'The Case for Faith'.
This leaders' guide aims to help youth groups explore the subjects in the youth editions of Lee Stobel’s two books ‘The Case for Christ’ and ‘The Case for Faith’.
Ideally each young person in the group would have a copy of the book which they are reading between sessions, and then when the group meet together the activities in the leaders' guide are designed to help people explore and discuss the issues raised. If this is possible, it would be the most effective way of using the resource. However, the session could be adapted with only a moderate amount of work by the leader so that young people didn’t need their own copies of ‘The Case for Christ’ and ‘The Case for Faith’.
This resource was initially designed for use in the USA; however, it’s clear that the author was aware that it needed to be appropriate for international use. Some youth groups in the UK may well find the structure of the session too ‘formal’ – however, the ideas could easily be modified and it may well be worth trying to run the session as is is written, and see how it goes.
Each session includes three main sections. Firstly there is an introductory, fun idea to introduce the theme. This is followed by one or two ideas to enable the young people to engage with the subject at hand. This is done through studying the Bible, reading sections of the book, discussion, role plays and various other ideas. Finally, each session ends with an idea to ‘tie up loose ends’ and to help young people relate what they have been looking at to their lives.
