Show & Tell
Show & Tell is an online database of Bible centred youth and children’s work resources and it’s all free! Show & Tell aims to provide a means by which youth and children’s workers all over the country (and the world) can share their own resources and download other people’s resources to aid them in their work.
The easy-to-search site contains a wide variety of material including:
Talks: epilogues, sermons, family service talks, CU talks…
Activities: crafts, memory verses, challenges, ‘hooks & gimmicks’…
Presentations: Dramas, storytelling (narratives), magic tricks...
Games: Wide games, small group games, large group games, ice-breakers…
Teaching Breakdowns: Age group programmes, syllabi…
Bible Studies: Small group discussions (passage and issue based)…
Training: Training resources for youth/children’s workers…
Practical Planning: Recipes, itineraries (for weekends etc)…
We don’t ask people to write brand new resources; we want resources that have already been ‘test-driven’. All the resources that can be found on the Show & Tell website are provided ‘as is’ and we don’t pretend that they are polished and ready to use straight away. There are a number of reasons why we’ve chosen this approach.
1. We want REAL resources – resources that have been used with real people in real circumstances.
2. We want to get as many resources as possible into the hands of as many people as possible – there are a huge number of youth and children’s workers out there producing excellent material week in, week out. Most of those resources are used once and then sit in a file somewhere, never to be seen again. Show & Tell makes it possible for loads of people to benefit from these resources. By using existing resources rather than asking people to write new ones the number of resources available could soon be huge!
3. We want people to work out stuff for themselves – a lot of the resources on the site cannot just be downloaded 5 minutes before a session and used straight away, and that’s a good thing! Every group is different, every young person is different, so we want to encourage people to take the resources provided on the site and use them as just one part of their planning so they can tailor them to their particular situation.
Our aim is to provide a big, friendly, sharing environment so that more and more people can hear the good news of the Gospel!
That’s all great but, but in reality not all the resources that get produced are that great! That’s why we have a team of real-life youth and children’s workers who check all the resources before they’re approved and made available on the site. If the resource is not compatible with our basis of faith and says Jesus isn’t God, or something else like that, then we will not put it on Show & Tell, however, if it is faithful, but not polished, we will.
Show & Tell has its own blog where we like to have the odd competition, put things out there for discussion and generally chat about interesting issues for youth and children’s workers. The site also includes news, reviews and links.
Please visit Show and Tell, download some of the existing resources and upload your own material. The site will only work if more and more people submit resources – so please get involved!
